Waltham St Lawrence Primary School

Together We Inspire and Achieve

Headteacher’s Welcome

As the Headteacher of Waltham St Lawrence Primary School, I welcome you to our school.

Our school is a caring, friendly and welcoming village school nestling in the beautiful ground which we make full use of throughout the year.

Here at WSL we all work as a team, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding, to create a happy, safe, caring and challenging learning environment where each child is enabled to achieve their full potential.

At the centre of our work are the children. We believe that “Every Child Matters” and this prevails in everything that we do. Everyone in our school is passionate about educating the whole child, not only in terms of academic achievement but in creativity, self-confidence, self-esteem, independence and a sense of responsibility. We think it is also crucial to teach our children the important values of respect, honesty, kindness and consideration for others that should last a lifetime.

We expect that your children will have an enjoyable and successful time here at WSL and expect that when your children leave us they will be fully prepared for the next phase of their education, having developed a life-long interest in learning.

Education is most effective when there is a strong partnership between a child, school and home. We hold regular parents meetings and opportunities for parents to liaise with staff. We also operate an Open Door policy, whereby parents can ask to speak with either me or other members of staff should the need arise. Although at busy times a mutually convenient appointment may be needed. However, we will endeavour to speak with you as soon as is possible.

We value each member of the school community and work to encourage the potential of all. We like to celebrate achievement and challenge our children, and ourselves, to improve even more.

This website contains information about most aspects of your child’s life and learning while at school, but there is no substitute for coming to see us at first hand. If you are a prospective parent – please contact us to arrange a visit. I can assure you of a warm welcome for you and your child.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you in our school environment.
