Ofsted Report – Ofsted Report 2012 – Waltham St Lawrence Primary School

As you may know that the new school inspection framework and evaluation schedule have been introduced from January 2012. This means that there is radical difference with four key areas inspected: achievement of pupils; quality of teaching; behaviour and safety of pupils (where we achieved ‘Outstanding’) and leadership and management. Ofsted use just four grades and terms. Please refer to the glossary in the report for a description of the grades and the terms.

The OFSTED inspector indicated that the ‘bar’ has been raised and even previously outstanding schools may only achieve ‘Good’ even though they have maintained the same standards. To be judged ‘Good’ under the new OFSTED Framework is a huge achievement. It is an excellent and highly complementary report that we are all immensely proud of. Please do take the time to read it. Along with it there is also a letter to children from the inspector for you to share with your children about the main findings.

We are very pleased with the report, particularly as a number of significant strengths and achievements are highlighted. We have already begun to address the issues the Ofsted inspector indicated need some attention and will keep you informed of developments in these areas. We would also like to thank those of you who took the time and trouble to respond to the parents’ questionnaire and were pleased to learn that the school enjoys the full support of the overwhelming majority of parents.

Should you have any further questions about the report then do not hesitate to contact us.
