The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an association between parents, teachers and pupils at Waltham St Lawrence Primary School. Every parent of a child at the school is a member of the PTA and we welcome you to share ideas and help support the school in any way you can. We know that our children’s learning experience is enriched when everyone in our School Community works together.

Our PTA works to raise money and provides support to the school in some of the following ways:

  • Paying the annual insurance for the playing field (owned by the WSL Playing Field Trust) of £400.00, so this can be utilised by the school.
  • Paying for transport to and from the leisure centre so that children in the targeted year groups can enjoy their enjoy their swimming lessons at a cost of £500.00.
  • Subsidising School trips (and sometimes covering the cost completely).
  • Paying for many facilities in the school which enrich the children’s learning, including 16 new laptops at a cost of £8,500.
  • Acting as “Class Representatives” for each class and forming a vital link between families and teachers.
  • Arranging social events for children and parents throughout the year to build a strong sense of community within the school.

How we raise money

Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run. These include:

  • Christmas Fair & Raffle
  • Halloween Disco
  • Summer Fete
  • Movie nights

We raise money in other ways, too. Donations from parents are extremely important. You can donate time (volunteering to help run events), items to sell, raffle prizes and auction lots or even offer your specialist services and skills. You can also donate directly to the school, through the PTA and in the following ways:

  • School Wish List – buy or contribute towards items the school needs. Please contact the School Office or the PTA for more details.
  • School Amazon Wish List – this is a list of consumables the school continuously requires. You can view and donate by logging into your own Amazon Account, click on “Your Lists”, scroll down to “Find a list”, under “Find a wish list” type in “Waltham St Lawrence”.
  • Subscribe to Easy Fundraising – the school will benefit from FREE donations when you shop online with over 6,000 retailers such as John Lewis, Argos, Uswitch, eBay and many more, at no cost to you. You can find out more at https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/invite/A74X1U/
  • Friends of Waltham St Lawrence – this is an independent charity, separate to the PTA and funds are managed and assigned for specific initiatives by a Committee (consisting of the Head Teacher, Governor of the School and an external member). Please contact the School Office for more details.
